Sound Support

The Chord Scale Generator does not only show chords and scales in different graphical representations. It is also possible to play selected chords or scale blocks so that you can hear how they actually sound.

You have different possibilities to play a selected chord or scale block. Either you can double-click on a selected chord or scale in the respective results view (see Chord and Scale Results View) or perform the corresponding popup menu entry. Besides, the global action Extras → Play Sound plays the previously selected chord or scale block.

The currently played tones will be graphically highlighted in the Fretboard and Keyboard View. Thus, you can see exactly which tone is currently being played and for how long.

How the played chord or scale block will sound depends on the currently active instrument. The definition of your instrument specifies, among other things, how the instrument sounds (Sounds like in the Instrument Editor). Besides, there are several preferences (File → Preferences... → Sound) to define the tone length, the tone distance and the play pattern for chords and scales.

Finally we want to point out a last little feature concerning the sound. It is possible to play freely in the Fretboard and Keyboard View by clicking on single tones. How long the played tones shall sound you can define in the sound preferences as well.
