Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is there any place where I can ask a question specific to my Assignment Planner needs?
A: Yes, there is! You can visit the forums online at assignmentplanner.com/forum/ and post your question or feature request there. The link to the forum is also always accessible from the Help menu while in Assignment Planner.
Q: I've received my registration code, but how to I enter it in?
A: If you open the Preferences and select the Registration tab, there are text fields at the bottom of the window where you can enter in your information. Be sure to enter it correctly, based on the email, or there will be problems registering. In order to avoid some problems, spaces are automatically removed from the beginning and the end of any entered information.
Q: Where is my Assignment Planner data stored?
A: All of your preferences are stored in the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.loganrockmore.AssignmentPlanner.plist, where ~ is your home folder. All of you data, which includes your Assignments, Courses and Textbooks and Types, are contained in the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Assignment Planner/.
Q: Why are my Address Book contact names getting screwed up?
A: The way that the NSTokens (the blue bubbles) work is a little odd and does some interesting things with spacing. Basically, most typical first and last names should work. However, if there is a prefix involved, such as Mr. or Dr., you can add it to the contact field just fine, but the arrow and menu will not appear. This is a known problem with prefixes and can only be fixed if the Address Book framework is updated.
Q: Is there any way to make Assignment Planner work for other needs, such as in a business environment?
A: Yes, it's pretty simple to use the program in another way. If you open the Preferences and go to the Labels tab, you can change how the entire program references the different pieces of data. You can easily change "Assignment" to "Task" and the whole interface will change. This works for just about all of the labels used throughout the program and makes it quite easy to tailor Assignment Planner to your own needs.
